A Sexual Offence Liaison Officer (SOLO) is a police officer who has received specialist training in dealing with victims of sexual crimes. The role of the SOLO is to ensure a victim centred approach where safety and welfare is paramount. They undertake aspects of the enquiry linked to interviews of the victim, legal and procedural issues, and all matters surrounding the victim, including medical and evidence matters. SOLOs can also make referrals to support and advocacy services.
