A crime that applies to any person who engages in a course of conduct that places another person in a state of fear or alarm. Two or more incidents are required to prove a course of conduct (see section 39 of the Criminal Justice and Licensing (Scotland) Act 2010). A wide range of behaviours can qualify as stalking, e.g. sending unwanted phone, text or email messages; cyber bullying on social media; following or loitering and verbal abuse.
